‘Mockingjay: Part 2’ officially rated PG-13 by MPAA

Like all its predecessors, the final movie in The Hunger Games franchise has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA.

Mockingjay: Part 2 is given the rating for “intense sequences of violence and action, and for some thematic material,” same as Part: 1.

The move seems expected given the nature of the story’s final arc that involves all-out violence.

What do you think? Is PG-13 fine, or does it seem to imply some of the scenes may have been toned down to avoid an R-rating?

  1. I’m going to be disappointed if any of the pod scenes are toned down to suit an M (PG-13 for you americans) rating. I have a feeling they’ll be cutting out parts and editing death scenes for it to be appropriate for the rating. Also the Snow/Coin death scene, I feel this should be played in full and not toned down in any way as it is the climax of the book, film and trailers; and Katniss when she attempts succeed during her trial. This is so important to her actions as to why she killed Coin, and not make her seem like a bitch for killing Coin because she (Coin) is made as a more likeable character on film than in the books.

  2. I think the hunger games series should have been made more for adults.. the nature of the games, the districts, the whole system, and now the war, it’s something very real and that affects the characters a lot. But well, Lionsgate earns more money if it opens to a younger audience, and so they have created these type of movies to be more appropriate for them.
