2015 will see the final installment in this incredible franchise, Mockingjay: Part 2, bringing a definite end to at least Katniss’s story that we’ve followed since the books were first published.
Since the first The Hunger Games movie was released, we have all been on a rollercoaster of a ride with this wonderful cast. From the first cast actor Jennifer Lawrence to the likes of the latecomers such as Natalie Dormer, we adore them all.
So, along with the final movie, there’s more to watch out for next year. Here’s a personal list of my most anticipated movies with the cast of The Hunger Games.
– PITCH PERFECT 2 starring Elizabeth Banks
With the success of Pitch Perfect, it was inevitable that it gets a sequel. Also starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Freddie Stroma and many more, the movie will focus on the Barden Bellas’s entry into an international competition.
– STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS starring Gwendoline Christie
While we have no word yet on the exact role that Gwendoline has been cast in, Star Wars is, of course, one of the most anticipated movies of next year. The trailer looked promising – none of the trade policies and Senate shenanigans – so I’m pretty excited to see how this pans out.
– JOY starring Jennifer Lawrence
The movie is based on the true story of Joy Mangano, a struggling Long Island single mom who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs after inventing the Miracle Mop, and also stars Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez.
Check out the trailer for Silver Linings Playbook, where Jennifer worked with Director David O. Russell, and won the Oscar for Best Actress.
– INSURGENT starring Stephanie L. Schlund
It’s a small Amity role for Stephanie, of course, but how can Insurgent not make my list? I’m a huge fan of Theo James, so even though I had some misgivings about that first teaser – and the subsequent box thing in the second trailer, I’m looking forward to the movie.
– DEAR ELEANOR starring Isabelle Fuhrman
Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Kevin Connolly, this movie also stars Liana Liberato, Jessica Alba, Joel Courtney and Luke Wilson, filmed back in 2013. This is a coming-of-age story about two teenage girls who travel across the U.S. in 1962 during the chaos of the Cuban missile crisis in search of Eleanor Roosevelt. Touted as a kind of Thelma & Louise cross-country adventure, this sounds pretty intriguing.
While these are all movies, let’s not forget that Leven Rambin has been cast in season two of True Detective, and Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie both star in Game of Thrones.
