'Mockingjay Part 2' finishes principal photography! #ThankYouTHGCast

Caesar-Flickerman

Three years since the news broke that Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as Katniss Everdeen, and Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will play the role of Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively, we are here, ultimately. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 principal photography wraps up today, with the final scene having been filmed.

The first movie’s filming began in May 2011, in North Carolina, and the first pictures that we received were of the Mellark bakery. We are now at the end of the journey (well, somewhat. Let’s just keep an eye out on @Hibbits for any reshoots!) in Berlin.

Here at HGN, we have been fangirling behind-the-scenes for so long, it’s weird to see it wrap up finally. Here are some personal words from a few of us:

Tanvi: It’s not as if I’m over how quickly Harry Potter movies were done, that THG is inching towards a close too. It’s really unbelievable how fast these past three years have gone. The cast has given us so much, been so wonderful and the movies were so, so much better than what any of us expected that it’s hard not to feel a little heartbroken.

Monique: It’s amazing to see how well the movies have brought each book to life and I’m sure Mockingjay will not disappoint. It’ll be difficult to say goodbye, but at the same satisfying to see it all come together.

Bailey: Feels like just yesterday that it all started and the hunt to find the perfect Katniss was on. I’m excited to see what they’ve done but sad that it’s going to be over.

Devin:  I couldn’t be more grateful for a perfect cast! Thank you for bringing the characters I love so dearly to life on the big screen. While filming is over, I’m excited that we still get two more years of movie premieres, red carpets, and cast interviews. Hunger Games today. Hunger Games tomorrow. Hunger games forever!!

Emi: The end of filming is like closing a chapter of my life. It’s so weird to think that we’re closer to the end of these movies. But at the same time, I’m really excited to see how Mockingjay part 1 and 2 play out on the big screen!

We’d like to thank Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik for having so much faith in the project. And, of course, directors Gary Ross and Francis Lawrence, both of whom brought their own vision that worked in perfect amalgamation. The entire crew, really, for working on this amazing story.

As for the cast, there are so many to name, and we really think – not just because of this fansite, really – that each and every actor did true justice to their roles. We are thankful to all of them for giving their best to the world of The Hunger Games.

Here’s to the coming years as Katniss Everdeen stirs up the Rebellion and changes Panem forever!

So where is the trailer?
