Rumor debunked: Lionsgate confirms no 'Mockingjay: Part 1' teaser at Cannes

[UPDATE]: Lionsgate has now confirmed to fansites and media that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 teaser trailer will not be debuting at Cannes, after all.

We’re as disappointed as you guys, but hopefully we’ll hear something very soon.

The Cannes Film Festival 2014 lineup were announced today. In addition to the movies being screened, promotion for several other projects will also take place at the Festival, as always. Cannes Coverage, a Twitter account, is reporting that the first teaser trailer for Mockingjay: Part 1 will debut at the Festival later this year.

Since the trailer gave MTV Movie Awards a miss, we can assume some truth in this speculation.

Last year for Catching Fire, Lionsgate put together a spectacular presentation which included Mockingjay displays, photocalls and a private party. But since they had shown no proper footage at the event, they had released the trailer at Comic Con.

However, since Lionsgate has yet to confirm this news, we are treating this as a rumor for now.
